SHOP HISTORY
12th Street Books was founded in 1992 by Mike Hale as a general used bookshop. In 1998, Luke Bilberry formed a partnership with Mike and transformed the space into a shop carrying finer editions and scarce books on scholarly subjects. In 2009, the partnership was dissolved (amicably) and Luke closed the shop for several months for a remodel. 12th Street Books reopened in September as a rare and antiquarian shop with books on diverse subjects but specializing in literary first editions, fine bindings, small-press books, and books by and about Texas writers. The shop is the only walk-in rare book room in the city. 12th Street Books is a member of the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America.
12th Street Books is a member of the Antiquarian Bookseller's Association of America, and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers.
